Landslides are one of the most frequent natural disasters in Indonesia. They can cause infrastructure damage, material loss, and even loss of life. One way to prevent landslides is through slope protection.

Slope protection is a measure taken to prevent landslides. This can be done using various methods, depending on the condition of the slope being protected.

Here are five commonly used slope protection methods, including two methods using shotcrete and concrete canvas:

1. Shotcrete

Metode Perlindungan Lereng Shotcrete

Shotcrete is a slope protection method that uses concrete sprayed onto the slope surface using a special tool. Shotcrete can be used to protect slopes from various hazards, such as weathering, erosion, and landslides. Shotcrete can also be used to repair slopes that have already experienced landslides.

2. Pasangan Batu

Metode Perlindungan Lereng pasangan batu

Stone masonry is a slope protection method that uses stones to form a structure that retains soil. Stone masonry can be used to protect steep slopes or slopes that are subject to heavy loads.

3. Geotextil atau Geogrid

Metode Perlindungan Lereng Geotextil atau Geogrid

Geotextiles or geogrids are synthetic materials used to reinforce soil. They can be used as a base layer for shotcrete or masonry work. They can also be used as a soil retaining layer.

4. Vegetation Cover / Penghijauan

Metode Perlindungan Lereng Vegetation Cover Penghijauan

Vegetation cover, or reforestation, is a slope protection method that uses plants to retain soil. Vegetation cover can be used to protect slopes from various hazards, such as weathering and erosion.

5. Concrete Canvas

An example of an innovative geotextile and geosynthetic coating is Concrete Canvas. Concrete Canvas consists of two interlocking layers of geotextile, each filled with a specially formulated dry cement. Concrete Canvas can be used to protect slopes against surface erosion.

6. Injeksi bahan stabilisasi tanah

Soil stabilization injection is a slope protection method that uses chemicals to strengthen the soil. The chemicals used can be resin, epoxy, or polymer. Soil stabilization injection can be used to repair slopes that have experienced landslides.

Conclusion

Shotcrete, stone masonry, geotextiles or geogrids, vegetation cover, and soil stabilization injection are five commonly used slope protection methods. The selection of the appropriate slope protection method must be tailored to the conditions of the slope to be protected.
